Disneyland has three hotels that are on property, but that does not mean they are the ideal hotel for your trip. These hotels do offer Disneyland exclusive amenities, such as Magic Mornings, where you can get into Disneyland an hour before guests at neighboring hotels for your hotel stay, but they also come with a higher room rate. That is not always the best option for many people. Many hotels not on Disney property are a closer walking distance. Anaheim even runs the Anaheim Resort Transit bus system (ART) that stop at area hotels and transports people to and from Disneyland for $3 a day, making these hotels convenient, and sometimes inexpensive in comparison to closer properties. So you may find it surprising when I do not put all of Disneyland hotels as the best, but I weighed out all options, not just location, when making my selections.
The Grand Californian. This is a Disney hotel which is the nicest hotel in Anaheim. It is connected to Disney's California Adventure park and Downtown Disney. It also is not cheap! Room rates on average run $416-$680 per night. If money is no object and you want to engulf yourself in "Disney magic", then there is no better hotel option. Hotel amenities include a spa, Disney transportation. Shipping your purchases that you make directly to your hotel from the park. A fabulous pool area. Recent guests received FastPasses to the new summer attractions at the park as well as early entry into Disney's California Adventure.
Howard Johnsons Plaza Hotel. Located on South Harbor Boulevard, this is a popular choice of regular park goers. It is a short walk to the park gates and is a great value for your money. Kid friendly, with a great pirate ship inspired pool and beautiful grounds with a lush garden. There is even a quieter pool area for adults to enjoy. Rooms are clean and spacious. Rates for rooms average $110 - $184 a night with free parking and refrigerators in room.
Candy Cane Inn. Just a short walk to the park gates, located on South Harbor Boulevard. Free breakfast, fridges in each room and free parking. Rooms are clean and have a separate sink area from the shower to help get the family ready in the morning. They run a free shuttle to the park, but since the distance is so close, you may opt to walk. Rates average $87 - $149 per night.
The Ayers Hotel. This is an all suites hotel, located on Katella Avenue, that is a little further from the other hotels listed. Though the hotel gets fabulous ratings, if you are planning on spending the majority of time at the parks, the commuting distance takes away from the hotels ratings. With free breakfast and warm cookies at night, the hospitality of the hotel is wonderful. Rates average $129-$291 per night.
Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel. Another all suites hotel that is great for families. Clean and spacious rooms. About a ten minute walk to the gate or take advantage oft the ART. Nice pool area. Located near the Anaheim Convention Center on South Harbor Boulevard. Rates for rooms average $118-$189 per night.
No matter where you choose to spend your nights in Anaheim, you are sure to have a wonderful time at Disneyland.
